Recently I shared a video on social media showing violent acts by those protesting the inauguration of Donald Trump. I happened to be busy, and didn’t really pay attention to the thread that exploded over the next couple of days. At that point, I felt it right to make a response. This is a synopsis of what I want to convey to all of my friends across the political spectrum.
I stated that the ideology of Liberalism brings violence – and I mean that, if it is followed to it’s potential from the presently observed form by those that espouse it’s representative political party in the United States of America. Meanwhile, I believe we each adopt some areas of classical Liberalism in this nation. The problem is that Liberalism followed to it’s nth degree is inherently godless, denies natural law, and brings destruction by throwing off all boundaries, rather than freedom. Certainly I mean no injury or insult toward anyone. I made the original post because of the appalling actions of a few, demonstrating my point. Some didn’t understand my aim, instead taking personal insult, so I thought it better to state my intention.
Here’s the reality of the situation that drives me as I try to navigate the multi-faceted political spectrum. I know I have friends and family on all sides of this thing. I don’t love any of you any less, regardless of where you may be. I also know this:
If we believe there are human and political solutions that will truly fix humanity’s brokenness, we show the love of the Father is not in us. (1 John 2:15-16) Those same misguided passions give rise to violence, & further complicate the broken human condition. That means Republicans can’t fix it either. We are, after all, sinful people, trying to rule ourselves, with varying degrees of effectiveness, as a stop-gap measure until we submit ourselves in repentance toward Jesus Christ. It is only when we follow Christ than we have the power individually to resist the sin that pervades us all. In our natural state we are perhaps not fully corrupt, but all aspects of our being are corrupted. This is sin…the human condition. In that state we seek after and love the desires of the flesh, the things we see, and exercise wrongful pride in what we have. None of that comes from God.
Politics can never be a replacement for the rule of Almighty God. He has allowed this for a time, even manipulating the rise and fall of nations, and those in power, so that all may have an opportunity to come to Him in repentance. (Acts 17:24-34)
If you would like to see further context what God has to say on this matter, read the book of Acts, chapter 17, and perhaps the surrounding context.
Thank you. I wish peace to you all – specifically the deep peace that you will only ever know by coming to saving faith in Jesus Christ.
Correction: Proverbs 27:17, not Proverbs 27:7.
Friends, here’s a follow-up from my call to action for our summer ministry project I posted online 3 days ago. In 2011, I founded Floodlight Revolution as a way of engaging the culture with the timeless absolute Truth of the Bible. To support that mission, I began a band by the same name. At the time, the band didn’t perform publicly much, but my solo dates took off. Last year I began seeking how to truly expand the scope of Floodlight Revolution, while allowing the members to follow the direction of the Holy Spirit.
As you know, our culture grows darker by the day. It should be no surprise to us when sinners sin, however we, as God’s people, are called to make disciples in this environment. I’m asking you to join me in taking a stand for truth. The stated mission of Floodlight Revolution is “Shining intense light into dark hearts.” The Lord has shown me that the darker the world becomes, the brighter His children will shine.
This is where you come in. I’d like to unite together a dedicated group of individuals willing to use their God-given creativity to:
- Support the local church in becoming more effective through practical steps
- Engage the culture with creative content that we produce collectively while supporting each other in our individual endeavors
Here’s how we’ve begun. We’re helping to plant a multicultural church called CrossBridge Community Church. See that specific call to action here.
I’d like to invite pastors, musicians, artists of all kinds, lovers of spreadsheets, web design, etc, to be on board. Since I’m a musician, right now we’re pretty heavy in the musician department, but all Christ-led are welcome. Satan has systematically permeated the world with lies to discourage people from living in the freedom and loving relationship with our heavenly Father. Let’s facilitate dialog about the Salvation message and lead souls to repentance. God has given us skills to be used for specific purposes, and the time is short. I hope to meet together in the near future. Won’t you join the Floodlight Revolution?

CrossBridge STL (http://crossbridgestl.org/) is a church plant meeting 10am Sundays in the Arnold Recreation Center. Comprised of individuals around the St. Louis metro area, across the nation, and around the world, CrossBridge STL is a unique blend of cultures, intent on sharing life together through the saving work of Jesus Christ on the cross. This repentant commonality has brought together a community that might seem an odd mixture otherwise – Midwesterners with African immigrants and beyond. CrossBridge STL understands God’s central message to us bridges all boundaries so we may live as the family we were created to be. We are better together.
During the summer of 2016, James A. Miller, wife Denise, and a varying crew from Floodlight Revolution are helping to plant and support CrossBridge Community Church. James is presently serving as the interim worship pastor and is forming a worship team. The church would like to invite you to be a part of this adventure. Currently it is seeking passionate individuals to volunteer in the following areas:
* Worship Team & Leader: Lead weekly worship music. Training assistance and resources will be supplied by Floodlight Revolution.
* Setup/Teardown Crew: Responsibly for weekly setup and teardown of necessary equipment and signage.
* Prayer Warriors: A dedicated group of individuals are needed to regularly spend time in prayer for services, heart preparation, spiritual growth, protection, and benefit of all who will attend.
* Greeters: We need folks that love to meet people and talk about what God has called us to do through CrossBridge Community Church. This team will be the first contact many will have with CrossBridge STL.
* Child Workers: We need a trustworthy, secure team committed to caring for the safety and spiritual well-being of CrossBridge Kidz (Pastor Keith shot down my label of “Cross Kids”…). Families need to know their children are safe, cared for, and being taught truth in love.
If you live in relationship to the Lord, love to build new teams, and would like to be a part of this adventure, we would love to have you on board, whether on loan temporarily, or if you’re seeking an ongoing church group. If so, please contact one of the following:
